you know what I mean? If small needle nose pliers can't grab the piece, then try the needle method, and hope you didn't damage the port on the PC when you did that. Pivot off the outside edge of the port to pry out the piece, or lay a pencil under the needle and rotate off that. You could even heat the tip of the needle a bit to have it penetrate the plastic half way. Go in on a diagonal angle with the point, and skewer the piece you want to leverage out. Next, you want to get a sharp and sturdy pin/needle that is large and strong enough to use to pry with (safety google might be wise). shut down the computer and disconnect the power supply cord from the back so that you're sure no power is available to the port. I believe I did fix it by resoldering the connector ring back to the motherboard using a standard soldering iron (along with two pairs of reading glasses and a magnifying glass.) Seems to be working fine now, although I hope I don’t have to ever disconnect the wire again because I think the ring would pull off again. The connection does not have to be tight, just good enough so the light meets the internals. The connector is simply not secured to the motherboard well enough to ensure that the wire disconnects before the connector breaks off. I’m hearing enough stories online about this and after looking at the connector more closely, in my opinion this is either a design shortcoming or manufacturing defect on certain units.
